Creative Commons (CC) licence agreements

By putting a CC licence on your work, you give permission to the public to reuse your work, but you always retain your copyright. There are different licence types, giving the end user different restrictions as to what they can and cannot do. For example, a:

  • CC BY licence allows "reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format, so long as attribution is given to the creator. The license allows for commercial use."

whereas a  

  • CC BY-ND "enables reusers to copy and distribute the material in any medium or format in unadapted form only, and only so long as attribution is given to the creator."enables reusers to copy and distribute the material in any medium or format in unadapted form only, and only so long as attribution is given to the creator."
