GenAI and searching

GenAI tools aren't able to replace a structured, systematic search across multiple databases. These types of searches need to be reproducible, transparent and comprehensive.

However, these tools can be used during the planning process when designing search strategies for example:

• Brainstorming search terms
• Seeding articles
• Familiarising yourself with a research area

Consider the following:

• Journals may not accept manuscripts that have used AI tools - always check the publisher's guidelines on AI
• Do your due diligence on the tool - understand the data source
