New way to access the online Austin Health Library

From 16 September, 2024 we removed the need for Austin Health staff to log in with your Library barcode and password when working offsite. Now Austin staff can simply: 

  • Log into the Austin network as you normally would with your IT credentials, this will now automatically sign you into the Library.

OR

  •  If you haven't already signed into the Austin network, you will be prompted to choose AUSTIN HEALTH STAFF and log into the network using your Austin IT credentials
Select if you are Austin Health staff or Mercy, a student or other


This change means all Austin Health staff are now automatically Library members and can start using the Library now! Contact us for more information about the services and resources we have available.

 

Note that this change does not apply to:

  • MHW (Heidelberg) staff and students 
  • Students on placement 
  • Honorary Library members

Please continue to use your Library barcode and password for access.

FAQs

Austin Health Staff Only
Do I still need my Austin Library card? No, you no longer need your Library card.
How do I borrow books without a Library card? We will loan books out to you using your Austin staff ID card as identification.
How do I renew books without a Library card? Go to My Account at the top-right of the Library catalogue screen. Click on Checkouts to see a list of the books you have on loan. Select the book, and click Renew. See the images at the bottom of this page for further information.
What if I forget my username and password? Your username and passwords are now the same as your Austin ID and password - the username and password you use to log into your computer. If you have forgotten these, you need to reset your username and password.
Will I still have access to my PubMed, MEDLine, Embase  etc accounts I have set-up? Yes, these will not change. 
Do I need to join the Library? Everyone employed at Austin Health is automatically a member of the Library, there is no need to join. If you would like to know more about what is available, contact us at library@austin.org.au and we can arrange a time to show you.
Will I be asked for my username and password when onsite at Austin, Repat or Talbot campuses?  As long as you are already logged into the Austin Health IT network, you will not be prompted to log in to use the online Library. If you are not logged into the network, choose AUSTIN HEALTH STAFF when prompted.

Austin students, MHW (Heidelberg) staff and students, Honorary Library members

I am a student at MHW.		 This change only applies to Austin staff. Mercy staff will continue to be issued a Library card and use the barcode number and a password to access the online Library offsite, loan , renew and place holds on books. Choose MERCY (HEIDELBERG) OR STUDENT OR OTHER when prompted.
I am an Austin Health student. This change only applies to Austin staff. Students will continue to be issued a Library card and use the barcode number and a password to loan, renew and place holds on books. Choose MERCY (HEIDELBERG) OR STUDENT OR OTHER when prompted.
I am an honorary Library member. This change only applies to Austin staff. Students will continue to be issued a Library card and use the barcode number and a password to loan, renew and place holds on books. Choose MERCY (HEIDELBERG) OR STUDENT OR OTHER when prompted.
