Getting started at Austin Health Library

Medical databases

The Austin Library homepage gives you quick access to major medical databases such as PubMed, BMJ Best Practice and more. Our databases page links to biomedical and topic specific databases such as MEDLINE, Embase.

Download the medical apps: steps to take

  1. Come into the Library and log onto a computer.
  2. Register for a Clinicians Health Channel account.
  3. Go to the website of the app you want, and create an account.
  4. Then, use your mobile phone (or other mobile device) and download the required app.
  5. Log into the app on your mobile phone with the login and password you have just created on the website.
Important
  • We recommend you come into the Library and use a Library computer to create your accounts as some apps require you to be on the Austin Network (not Austin wifi) for authentication.
  • Some apps require you to have a Clinicians Health Channel account.

Apps to get you started:

UpToDate

UpToDate logo  Register for an UpToDate account while on the Austin network. 
  Download the UpToDate app on your mobile device and log in with your account details.
  Login to UpToDate from within the Austin Health network every 90 dates to maintain your access. 

BMJ Best Practice

  Download the BMJ app on your mobile device and log in with your profile account details.
